Trout & Swans
Branch River Trout Hatchery has its own brood stock of brook, brown, and rainbow trout. We have expanded our trout offerings to include the arctic char, which is closely related to the lake trout, and the tiger trout, a cross between a brook and a brown trout.
We produce about 50,000 trout fry yearly, with the bulk of the fish going to pond stocking, The fish are raised in our new indoor facility until they reach 2-3 inches in size. They are then transferred to outdoor raceways, where they are grown to 10-14 inches.
Our artesian well water is a constant 52 degrees year-round, with a constant flow of about 30 gal./min. Our whole system is a closed loop process, thereby eliminating any threat of outside pollution from a river, or a non-point source.
